She crawls into bed with Izzie and whispers in her ear until she wakes up. Until Izzie groans and rolls over and says, 'Okay, I'm awake, Jesus.'
'I can't sleep.' She can't. The house is too empty. She keeps losing the things she cares about. She keeps losing things and they always leave these big empty spaces once they're gone. And she needs something, she needs -
'God Meredith, are you kidding me?'
But Izzie doesn't push her away so she keeps kissing Izzie's neck and Izzie's shoulder and sliding her hand under Izzie's t-shirt. And when Izzie says 'God Meredith' again she lifts up her head and holds down Izzie's shoulders and thinks maybe this time. Maybe this time, with her knee pressed between Izzie's thighs and Izzie arching up beneath her.
Afterwards Izzie laughs at her. 'You've really got a problem. Ever think maybe you can't solve everything with sex?'
But Izzie's laughing, not packing a suitcase. Izzie will still be here in the morning.
So she's thinking maybe this time she can.
