Contrary to popular belief Bree is not a robot
Lynette used to think she was. She has a vague recollection of using the phrase, ‘Stepford wife on steroids,’ the first time she and a bemused Tom watched Bree march purposefully towards them, wielding a color co-ordinated muffin basket and terrifyingly cheerful smile.
As a friend Lynette suspected smooth and cold was not all the mechanical Mrs Van De Kamp could be. Now she knows. She can feel a pulse throb against her mouth, can taste lust against her lips, and she has proof that Bree is no robot. Passion (love?) has opened a crack in the casing and finally Lynette can see to the tangled wires beneath.
Afterwards they lie naked, silent side by side, and that fracture widens. Lynette breathes in the guilt on the air and knows for certain that Bree is human.
