Summary: She was still half asleep.
Her eyes were still closed, but Delphine knew that she was still awake.
The reason of course, was that she could hear the rain hitting the windowpane. Yes, that's probably what woke her up.
But, she really didn't want to open her eyes....just to go back to sleep--
--that's odd. There was a sudden warmth next to her that she was sure hadn't been there before.
Not only that, but she was vaguely aware of a scent that smelled suspiciously of rum.
"Go back to sleep, love," a voice with an accent stranger than the American sort. What was it again...? Irish?
Yes, that was it. Maybe. It was still dark behind her eyelids, but she could feel a slight movement of the woman next her.
She slept again.
