"Blue," said Belle.
"Red," said Ruby simultaneously.
Belle put her hands on her hips and looked at her wife with determination. "Blue for a boy," Belle insisted, and rubbed her palm in a circular motion over her baby bump.
"When have we ever done anything the conventional way? This room would look great red."
"It would," Belle nodded, "but even better in blue."
Ruby moved in close and put both hands on Belle's wonderful belly. "What can I do to persuade you?" She asked with a playful smile.
"Nothing," Belle smiled too and put her hands on top of Ruby's. "Maybe we can compromise." Together they stroked Belle's bump. They put their foreheads together, relaxing with each other.
"What kind of compromise?" Ruby asked quietly. The two women were in love. Totally. Completely. Happily.
"Purple," Belle said.
"Red and blue together."
"Blue and red," Belle giggled.
"Sounds perfect to me," said Ruby.
They stood together in their future son's room. Blue and red together and beautiful.
