This made me squee and wave my arms in joy. I love your older, more suave Gaila and your gorgeous, so-her-father's-daughter Demora. And I must say I ADORED the details, from the engines to this comment: Faces without enough pigment always slightly confused her anyway, even if they didn't affect the more interesting parts of hominid physiology.

Oh, I love this! I never thought of what Gaila might be like as an older woman, and this is perfect: I love her continued confidence in her attraction and her enjoyment of her higher social rank and the respect that that and her position as commander gets her. That she's about to make it with Demora Sulu is icing on the cake; I like the idea of Sulu possibly hearing about this encounter at some point. It's also great to see how Gaila borrowed various mannerisms and seduction techniques from her friends/coworkers. It's a nice reminder that her allure takes work, albeit work that she's very good at and that she enjoys. And, speaking of work, Gaila's and Demora's enthusiasm for engineering is lovely to read. Thank you very much for a very enjoyable story!

YES! Yay! I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

I was a little wary of dipping into TOS with Demora Sulu, but then I was like, dude Gaila would still be so fierce! Also, it was fun to play with.

I'm so pleased it worked for you. Thank you for the lovely feedback.

An older Gaila paired with Demora is awesome. Should Demora be labeled as an OFC, though? She's a canon character, and outside of Generations, she's got a fairly healthy set of appearances in the Trek novels. I'm not complaining in the least that you used her, believe me! Just questioning your labeling. :)

I adore this story. Gaila being smart and conniving and more than just a stereotypical Orion woman is wonderful, and having her encounter Demora is even more interesting, especially the end bits, with Gaila's introspection on what she's learned - and retained - over the years.

For the purposes of the prompt for this challenge, an OFC was appropriate; for my own journal/archive I'll mark it more clearly.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
