How is it cheating? It's perfectly reasonable. (It actually occurred to me while writing this that if it were two male characters, they'd have a huge slash fandom: two snarky, socially misfits find each other and are best friends from that day forth, and the first and only relationship either of them had in highschool was with the same person, not to mention the drama of Daria deciding not to have sex with Tom).

And, dude, Patrick? I had to. His gay boyfriend! Also, I knew that SQ liked FOB.

This is fantastic! The voices are completely real, it reads just like an episode, complete with all the sarcastic wit, dry humour and awkward familial mishaps of the show!

Really! It's like watching an episode, only GAY! (Which automatically makes it a hundred times better)

Getting comments on the characters' voices is always one of the biggest compliments to me for fic, because that's really why I'm here, you know? I'm all for the rest of the good writing, but I can do that in original stories just as easily.

I love how everyone except Daria and Jane was completely convinced (and completely untroubled) that they were A) dating, B) had broken up, and C) would work it out. Of course.

You totally hit the characterization on the head for everyone involved.

Oh, god. Yes, yes they do. Obviously while Jane's college job is at the bookstore, Daria's is at the coffeeshop. She and Faye end up in a battle of snark of sorts when she comes in for the interview and that's when Dora decides she muse hire this person. Marten's secretly a little scared of her and Jane, because now there are two more cute snarky chicks and now they're lesbians.
