Asha Leong animal rescuer!

Apparently I just needed a small nudge to become an animal rights activist!  Sorcha is currently fostering Coco aka the baby werewolf and that is going well. Coco is better behaved than our other dogs is just real shy and skittish.  Yesterday he let me touch him!

There are these two ADORABLE puppies in the streets of our neighborhood. Last night Sorcha and I started door knocking to figure out if they were feral.  We heard from 4 houses that no body owned them so we went home and prepped for dog capture.  Of course we called Brook who works at Fulton County Animal Shelter to make sure she'd take them.

Turns out they are "owned" by a family that:
-neither parent wants to take care of them so care is left to a 9 year old
-the fence has holes so they can't keep the puppies contained
-they self identify as poor, so they don't have enough money to feed them properly
-they don't want to give them up b/c the 9 year old is attached
-pretty much these dogs are not being properly cared for and are 1/2 way to being feral

Grr.

Sorcha told them that if we saw the pups in the street again we'd take them someplace where they can find good homes.

In addition:  I've got my print outs ready and I'm going to talk to my feral cat feeding neighbors about trapping and releasing the feral cats in my neighborhood.

= when the hell did I become an animal rights activist?

animals, dogs, activism
