PEDTM 6 - Snowflake Challenges 5 and 6
All right, catching up on Snowflake Challenges tonight.
Day 5
In your own space, post recs for at least three fanworks that you did not create.
1. Gracerene : 50 Reasons to Have Sex series
Two years ago today, Grace had the lovely idea to start writing a series of H/D fics based on this list from How I Met Your Mother. Believe it or not, she finished all fifty. Do you like delicious, thinky porny fics of the no-holds-barred variety? Have you ever suddenly thought, "I really need Harry and Draco politically charged, wager-based hate sex due to a Conservative win, and I need it now?" Or "I could fancy the hell out of some egg-timing frottage?" Well, grace has you covered with #32 and #43 respectively and so many other lovely, juicy tidbits for your perusal. You're welcome.
2. Waspabi: Accio My Heart
Okay, okay, bear with me here! Think yourself back to the heyday of beautiful, One Direction: 5 guys and the world is love? Not really getting it? No problem. Instead, imagine a modern day bandom-style AU where 1D actually goes to Hogwarts and spends the entire fic taking the piss and playing tricks. Oh, and pining like seven shades of seething, UST hell. The core romance is essentially a teacher-pupil fic, but one that was actually based on a mistake (older, of age student shags a new, temporary teacher, with nine years age difference between the two, but the shagging is done BEFORE school starts in the loo of a pub) and then they ANGST and SUFFER for the rest of the year once they get to Hogwarts and realize who exactly it was that they got off with that night before taking the train up to Scotland. The opening scene alone should merit a read--it's funny and hot and kind of sweet. But then waspabi does the right thing and they have a terribly, awkwardly, sufferingly hot year of denial and it's beautiful, tormented, and brilliantly funny. Also, it's Harry Styles/Nick Grimshaw, and that pairing is LOVE. This is one of those fics that I go back to over and over and over again because it's just so much fun to read.
3. Mystery Author: Into My Heart
Full disclosure, I got to read this as it was being written for hd_erised (reveals go up on Jan. 9!) and I love the way this still-anonymous author moves Harry and Draco from just fuckbuddies with a no-strings-attached relationship to something deeper and more emotional. It's heartwrenching in places, and delightfully funny in others, and if you haven't read it yet, you must. Also the pining is wonderful. \0/ There's so much I could say about this fic, but I also don't want to give away the author's identity yet, so trust me, if you want to spend some time with a Harry and Draco that will break your heart, then put it back together bit by bit, this is a great fic to settle down with.
Day 06
In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts.
1) Art for any of my fics. I love art, and it's always lovely to see how people interpret one's writing visually. \0/
2) Fic for the TV show Raised by Wolves -- I think the character of Germaine Garry is one of my favourites ever, and as far as I can tell there's no fic for the show on AO3, which is a shame. if you haven't seen Raised by Wolves, it's based on Caitlin and Caroline Moran's experiences growing up in Wolverhampton, and it's funny and subversive and brilliantly feral. I just made Noe watch it today with me (first time for her, second for me) and I'm pretty sure I've converted her into a fan. :)
3) Oh, God, I don't know. I'm terrible at wishlisting for anything, really. Links to people's rec lists from the past few months, maybe? I haven't read a lot this fall, so I'm sure I've missed some great
