Hark, now hear the sailors cry, smell the sea and feel the sky

So last night I asked for a couple of requests for fanmix drabbles. This one's for supergrover24 who asked for Tom/Brendon, sailing.

A small sailboat skims over the bright blue waters of the Caribbean, cool spray breaking against the prow. The air's heavy with salt and humid warmth. Tom's at the tiller; Brendon's pulling at the jib. Both of them are shirtless and faintly tanned, with the telltale pink of sunburns spreading across their shoulders. The wind ruffles their hair; their laughter drifts across the water.

They drop anchor in a small Jamaican cove just as the sun is setting. Dinner's eaten on the dock of a beachside bar--a rundown shack far away from the tourists where the ackee and saltfish are hot, the Red Stripe is cold, and the heady scent of curry goat wafts from the kitchen. Brendon snorts at Tom's horrified but you're eating goat and spears another chunk of meat. It almost melts on his fork.

Shadows stretch across the beach; the sun's just disappeared into the water. Brendon sits at the edge of the shore, his feet digging into the wet sand, his khaki shorts soaked. He takes a sip of his beer, turns the bottle between his hands, his thumb rubbing against the corner of the label. He looks up when Tom drops down next to him, half-empty beer in his hand, the waves splashing across his thighs, and Brendon smiles faintly before turning back to the quiet rumble of the ocean. They're silent for a moment, then Brendon leans against Tom, relaxing into his side. Tom presses a quick, soft kiss against Brendon's hair, his cheeks flushing before he pulls away awkwardly. Brendon doesn't mind. He just raises his beer to his mouth again, watching the white-capped water roll towards them.

Moonlight shimmers across the waves. It's been a good day.
