So yesterday was kind of a crap day. But I was optimistically certain when I went to bed that things would get better, tomorrow is another day, yaddah, yaddah, and all that.
Y'know, climbing into a tequila bottle will not help the bumping-into-stuff problem. But hey, it'll make it more fun!
I might be available this evening. In addition, I should be meeting my purveyor of alternative imbibing substances today or tomorrow, should you want to enhance your intoxication thereby.
(Um, feel free to delete this comment if you need to.)
I'll let you know about tonight...I'm not certain yet when or where I'll be able to get in for an eye exam so that affects my planning. *shakes fist at the eyeglasses god*
Yeah. Last time I got glasses they cost me $200. AFTER my insurance paid their part. I can't even imagine what it's going to be like without insurance.... *facepalms*
I've already run into one wall already--I have depth perception problems on top of being blind as a bat. I have a sneaky suspicion I'm going to be bruised by the end of the day. :)
Decades of fratboy experience have pretty much proven that alcohol as a vision-improvement strategy is far too short-lived to be effective. The effects are generally gone by morning, leaving you in bed with someone who looks like the bad end of Mick Jagger.
And then you have to scrape your tongue, because the whole Russian army tends to come over for drills while you're passed out and snoring.
So overall, I can't recommend it.
For glasses, however, it pains me to say it, but it's true; get thee to the Mart of Wall. They're the very worst sort of capital exploitationists, but their optometry department is routinely cheap, fast, and reasonably well supplied with options.
Sigh. Yeah, I've just added my local Walmart's number to my to-call list. I hate to do it, but they are cheap and fast. It just depends on if I can get in today or not to the optometrist....
Yeah, I'm going to check into contacts too. Which I'd rather not have, but if short-term they're cheaper...ah well. :/ And yeah, I'm wondering if they'd be able to do my lenses like that. The only problem is that they're a bit oddly shaped, so I don't know if they can reshape them to fit other frames.
If there's any chance of getting the lenses fitted into new frames that is absolutely the best way to go. My girlfriend did the same thing to her glasses several months ago and we stopped by wal-mart and she had her lenses fitted into new frames in less than half an hour for like $40.

*hugs you in sympathy*
(And, yeah, my lenses themselves cost about $200. Not cheap.)

Also, you might find a place that will take your existing lenses and set them into new frames until you can afford a proper exam and new pair.
