In regards to Gerard Way's alleged marriage yesterday...um.
See, yesterday was Labor Day. This is usually a federal and state holiday in the U.S. And according to the Arapahoe County Government website, er, Labor Day was a county holiday which means that the clerk and recorder office that issues marriage licenses would have been closed. As they would have been on Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday, Projekt Revolution was in Chicago. Illinois marriage licenses are only valid in the county in Illinois in which they were issued. (Do not ask how I know this. *eyes Pete and Patrick shiftily*)
From the Araphoe County Clerk: A marriage license may be issued in any county and used in any county in the State of Colorado. However, the license must be used within 30 days from the date of issue. The license is issued the day it is applied for and may be used immediately. Both male and female applicants must appear in person to complete and sign the marriage application. So they couldn't have just sent someone to get the license for them on Friday.
If Gerard and Lyn-Z got married yesterday, when the fuck did they get the marriage license, which has to be issued in the state where the marriage was performed in order for said marriage to be legally binding in the United States?
Now, if they just exchanged vows, they could have a common law marriage....in one to seven years.
All I'm saying is if Gerard managed to convince someone at a government agency to come in on their day off and give him a marriage license, then that man is God. No. Seriously. Having worked with government bureacracy...yeah. That is so not happening. (Also, in Arapahoe County, the clerk and recorder office is in charge of the motor vehicle division. Those of you in the U.S. who have ever stood in line at the DMV...think about that. *nods sagely* Yeah.)
I suppose they could have exchanged vows last night then gone and gotten a license today and had a JP marry them legally. But until I see solid confirmation of this rumor surface from a source other than a radio station, I remain half-convinced Gee's fucking with our heads, God love him.
