So. I just purchased general admission tickets for Fall Out Boy's November Boston concert and then the concert the next day in Connecticut.
DO NOT ASK ME HOW MUCH MONEY I HAVE GIVEN TICKETMASTER THIS WEEKEND.
Hi, my name's Femme and I have a concert addiction. (There had better damn well be some Peterick gayage those nights. I'm just saying.)
Speaking of concerts...so I went to see a little thing called Projekt Revolution last night. *g*
First of all, as always happens to me at concerts, we had a camera failure. Seriously, you'd think I'd learn to have a backup plan by now so I don't have to resort to shitty Sidekick photos. OH WELL. My camera karma is shit, you guys. Shit.
ze_dragon's cell phone pictures came out a tiny bit better though, although nowhere near as good as the camera would have, alas. But still, there will be a few included with this. However, MCR uses a fuckload of lights, and it's hard to get a decent picture of them that's clear. :/ At least with a cell phone. Dammit.
We got to Tweeter about 5:40ish or so, located our seats (AWESOME FRONT AND CENTER) and then, since we weren't thrilled with Him, went and hit up the Bacardi Silver cart. Met up for a bit with
misspamela, her husband,
giddygeek,
bayleaf,
janetcarter, and
lordessrenegade before we all headed back in to see Taking Back Sunday.
Okay, if it wasn't for the fact that I already heart Taking Back Sunday, like, a lot, I would have fallen for them when Adam talked about just finishing Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and his opinion? Voldemort is a dick. Seriously, how much do I love the fact that emoboyz are Potter fen? HOW MUCH?
MY FANDOMS COLLIDE. It's awesome.
Anyway. TBS's set was fabulous, and they got the crowd pumped up for MCR. Here. Have a cell phone pic of TBS. :D
Between sets they were putting up text messages on the screens and people were texting things like scream for so-and-so, or scream for this-and-that. So, having been urged to by Giddy and MissP earlier, I texted scream if you're in Gabe's basement. I don't know if it ever went up, as we headed out after MCR's set, but... *G*
So. MCR.
Dude, they were incredible. Seriously. The crowd was awesome, and Gerard? Was on. Was hot. Was playing to the crowd like whoa. He sounded amazing, he was obviously into performing, he rocked. As did the rest of the boys.
Frank came out in a white hoodie that said Boston pulled up over his head, and a pair of regular blue jeans. Not really MCR uniform, you know? He left the hoodie on for a few songs, and then pulled it off--he was wearing a black wife beater underneath it. Very hot. He headbanged a lot throughout the night--his hair has gotten so much longer from the last time I saw him in May--and his guitarwork was amazing. Gorgeous tatts, BTW. But. He was very subdued for Frank. No wild antics, no writhing across the floor, nothing much but headbanging and focusing on his playing. He went to the back of the stage for fairly good chunks of time and let Matt Cortez come up to the front and play. (Matt, by the way, is pretty damn awesome himself. But I miss Mikey. :( A lot.)
The odd thing is that there wasn't a whole lot of interaction between the band last night. I mean, they put on an amazing concert. AMAZING. But Frank and Gerard barely interacted at all. Gerard held his mic out to Frank's guitar once, early on (he did it to Ray later as well) and then when Frank took off his hoodie, Gerard put his hand briefly on Frank's shoulder in passing. But other than that...I don't know. It was a bit weird. But Gerard's interaction with the crowd was fantastic. He held us in the palm of his hand.
The one noticeable interaction the band had was after about four or five boas got tossed up on stage. Gerard pushed them back by the drum riser for later, and when they did Mama, they all wrapped them around themselves. All of them except for James on the keyboards had one . Frank had a lime-green one wrapped around his neck and his head, but it eventually fell off his head and hung around his neck....which made him look OMG tiny. XD Ray kept his on throughout Mama, and then afterwards tied it around his mic stand a la Steven Tyler.
At one point, someone threw a sheet-sign up on the stage that Gerard caught and unrolled and held up for the crowd to read. I couldn't make all of it out, but it was an acronym for Gerard Way that said something along the lines of "G-Gorgeous, E-eye candy, R-really hot, A-awesome, R-?, D-Dead sexy, a heart, W-?, A-artistic, Y-you rock our world" with "3 years" on the side (we're guessing that refers to his three years clean and sober.) Gerard held it up, and then handed it to Worm to unroll so he could see the front as he could only see the back at the moment.
There was one funny thing about this sign that the general public didn't see. After the concert Dragon and I were waiting to see if we could meet them at the buses (more on that later) and the girls who made it were there. With the sign. I guess they managed to grab it back afterwards. Anyway. They unfurled the sign again to show it to people and we were standing behind it. Looking at the side Gerard would have seen.
Which read....
Frerad. With a giant heart.
Yes. You guys. Gerard got an eyeful of Freard. On stage.
This amuses me to no end.
We tried to make out what was on the side of Gerard's neck, but we couldn't...it was TINY, and by the time the jumbotrons showed closeups of his neck/face, he'd already started to sweat and it was illegible. So. If anyone who was there knows what it said, please let me know. I'm curious and Dragon's obsessed.
Gerard had the red bandana around his neck as usual...this time it was loose--we looked for hickeys, there weren't any. And he had his sheriff's badge on as well and declared himself sheriff of emo town. Get out your eyeliners, boys and girls.
Watching him convince a multitude of straight boys to take of their shirts and wave them around to You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison was perhaps the fucking funniest thing ever. Seriously, do these guys listen to MCR? Because, dude. That was awesome. There were two guys together in the pit dancing really close apparently, and Gerard towards the end pointed them out and noted that it was appropriate for two shirtless guys to be dancing to a song about prison.
So. As if Gerard wasn't gay enough already--because let me tell you, I cannot count the number of times that he turned and shook his ass at us, not to mention the prancing about onstage--during their thank you to the other bands and LP for inviting onto the tour....they played Journey.
Yes.
Journey.
I felt like I was back in high school. Seriously, you guys? Journey.
Anyway. AWESOME CONCERT. Beyond awesome.
Afterwards, Dragon and I headed out to the buses because, well, Frank (and on occasion other members of MCR) has been coming out to talk to fans during LP's set. Well. We hung around for about forty-five minutes or so to wait with a group of fangirls. (Seriously, y'all, I was like the oldest person there. It was embarrassing *g* I totally blame Dragon; she dragged me out there.) However, no Frank. We stayed until the semis started pulling out and security sent the cops over to chase us off.
:/
So...not sure why Frank didn't come out. It could be that he was in a bad mood, or it could be that Worm wouldn't let him. No one told us anything, just said to get the fuck out of there. P.S. Tweeter security guys are not hired for their people skills. I'm just saying.
All in all, it was an amazing concert. I loved it, and I love the boys. SO MUCH. But parts of it felt a little off. The interaction between the band was a bit weird, at least from my interpretation of it. Others might disagree. I'm going to see how they are next week when I see them with
supergrover24. DAMMIT I WILL BRING A WORKING CAMERA TO THAT ONE. XD
Okay. Must dash to run a couple of errands this morning and return the goddamn Zipcar before they charge me for another day and then will be back to catch up on email/comments/flists. *smooches you all and looks for T pass*
