I find it interesting, given recent online discussions, that this story on pro-ana comms on social networking sites was on the BBC News front page this afternoon. Not that I think there's any sort of connection, just that it's one of those weird overlaps between RL and fandom that happen sometimes.

I sent the BBC some of the links to the livejournal staff comments earlier on. I also cited it as a funny coincidence, seeing that lj is publicly defending the maintenance of those communities. I doubt the Beeb will particularly care, but they might just start poking their noses into lj a little ... and we all know what disasters lie here to find.

And the story about pondorosa121 and others being suspended was on spiegel.de today, a German Internet news page. Was totally floored that fandom is making the official news!
