More Bleach Randomness
I'm not obsessed. I swear. I can stop anytime I want.
So there's this comm called bleach_rating, and you can go there to see what character people think you are based on your personality. Incidentally, I'm Nanao, and I'm very please with that. I was worried I'd be voted an "Ishida" for a second. ;)
Anyhoo, one person's application caught my attention.
This was their answer for least favorite character:
Again, because there's so many characters it can be hard to choose. But I'll go with Abarai Renji for now, purely because he's cocky, arrogant, underestimates others while overestimating himself, and in general just lacks a certain depth that I enjoy in my characters (regardless of whether they're the serious type or not). Plus he seems to give into his emotions a lot, which seems to imply that he doesn't have a lot of self-control.
I voted her Byakuya based solely on this answer, but that's neither here nor there. And I'm not enciting flaming or bashing. Her answer simply amused me (okay, at first I was a little put off), basically because I think she's dead wrong.
Cocky = Yes
Arrogant = Not nearly as much as his captain is.
And he doesn't necessarily underestimate his opponents. Does he think he can take most of them down single-handedly? Yes. But he is a lieutenant who's able to somewhat control his bankai. And I don't think he overestimates himself, either.
If this person is talking about his fights with Ichigo and Byakuya to save Rukia, than that's definitely not the case. He didn't go up against them for the hell of it - and he certainly didn't think he could win (he definitely hoped he would), but he went up against them because he had to. He had to save Rukia, and failure, wasn't an option.
And as for lacking depth? What anime is she watching, because it ain't Bleach.
And of course he gives into his emotions! He's not a robot (or Byakuya). He's moody and stubborn and short-tempered and that's why I love him.
Yes, I realize that I've put WAAAAY too much thought into all this, but her comment really irked me.
I understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinon and I respect that. And yes, I understand that I'm being more than a little biased but...
Ah, I just needed to get this out.
It's kind of interesting that two people can watch the same show with the same characters, and come out with completely different perspectives on it. *shrug*
I guess that's all I came here to say.
