Non-erudite thoughts on Battlestar Gallactica: the Miniseries

So after having a massive fight with my mother, I "ran away from home" (at age 27, the emotional necessity of the previous phrase being the crux of the problem) to cool off and am now in the bosom of geeky friends of over a decade. They are making me watch BSG.

Captain's Log (They made me say that.)

On "Six"
geekboy: She is NOT the cute one. She gives you an erection...and is evil.
femmenerd: Like fruits of the deveeel?

On Kara
femmenerd: She's like Tom Cruise...only AWESOME.
mednerd: She's what Tom Cruise ought to be.
femmenerd: Femme!crush, OMG! Get that woman a strap-on....for use with me Lee.

1. It is my (completely obvious) contention that all Sci Fi is about out hopes and fears about the future, especially in regards to technology. When it is about our *fears* about technology, I always find it interesting how the genre as a whole fetishizes techy-crap.

2. This show kicks my ass....already.

3. "Madam President" is my fucking hero. Also, the predominance of the phrase "Yes, sir" in both this and SPN makes me think about The Phallus...because I studied feminist theory in undergrad.

4. There was another good thought and now it is gone. Everyone else wants to continue with the watching so...stay tuned. The rest of them have things to say about Genesis, and Earth, and Hope and all of that. I say, "more TV!"

what femme did, bsg
