PIE. Thank you! And yes, that was the thing! They used to have such a great comic back-and-forth, like at any given moment they'd switch who was the straight man in the duo (though it was usually Dean).

I've been working my way through Gilmore Girls on Netflix DVDs lately, because I didn't see most of the first several seasons the first time around (which has nothing to do with JP) (at all) (really), and I just got to the ep after they break up because of Jess and he shuts the window in her face.

I already miss them.

Gah! That episode. I once made the mistake of watching it when I was already having a sadface kind of day. Blergh.

Weirdly, I have been watching GG for longer than any other show I've been fannish about. I mean, I used to tape Buffy and watch GG live. But then I'm a fast-talking woman obsessed with pop culture from a small town in New England inhabited by weirdos, so. :P I got misty when GG ended just because it was the longest term relationship I ever had with a TV show (in its live, weekly run).

I watched almost religiously for about the first season and a half, and then I just stopped, for some reason, until about half way through season 5.

Catching up has been fun. I even like Kirk.
