First of all, Happy Birthday
crazydiamondsue! You're so Suetastic, I can hardly stand it. ♥
Next, a Question: So there's a mini-explosion of people writing AUs in which male characters are always-already girls in SPN fandom. Y'all might well know what I'm talking about but there's no name for it, because it's not "genderswitch"--though really, technically that's a possibly more appropriate term for this kind of fic than stories in which a male character wakes up in a female body but is still the "same person" in terms of mannerisms/identity if you buy the gender/queer studies separation of sex (body) and gender (culture). Or maybe there is a term for it? In SPN we call it "sisterfic" but that's specific to that particular canon. ANYWAY, is this happening in other fandoms? You're multifandom, flist, help me out here. Also, has anybody ever read a fic that interpreted canon characters as transgender?
I'm curious, and also considering writing about this in relationship to Starbuck's "transformation" from male to female in the original vs. the new versions of BSG.
And by the by, if you're interested in this and missed it, there was a
discussion post related to this topic on
spnroundtable last week.
Oh! And also,
traveller posted a
Dean/girl!Sam fic yesterday that I thought was quite good.
Hum. I "listened" to the first two episodes of Buffy while I was working at the media library today. It was comforting. One of my professors who's never seen the show before walked in and took one look at Giles and went "Who's that? He's sexy."
All right. I'm going to wander off now and make some very small cupcakes, read Film Theory and possibly contemplate writing teenage!Dean het fic involving a hardware store. (??????)
ETA: Also, you know how there are a million and one stories in which Dean gives Sam "sex ed" in some form or another? Well,
onelittlesleep went and reversed that. Heh. She cracks me up.
Dean is a Douchetard: He just doesn't know what that means yet - gen, rated R for crudeness.
