OK, Gunn is was a LA street kid (with a heart of gold, heh) who fought vampires all DIY style with this group of kids in his neighborhood. His baby sister gets vamped and there is much woe. He meets and is initially wary of Angel--because he's a vampire--but eventually they start working together and he's a regular on the show for the rest of it's run.

Go and watch this vid and then you're good to go.

I'm really missing out by not watching SPN. I'm going to rent the dvds just because I'll never be able to understand a femme post again if I don't.

Hmmmmm, as for SPN, I wonder if you'll like it? It took mixing it in a cocktail with fandom for me. Do you like pretty, snarky boys, hot cars, woobie issues, and cock rock?

If it makes any sense, it's like a really, really good bad show. Because the production values are very good--I like the visual aesthetics, coloring and camera work--and the acting is charismatic, but it's still a super genre show with some cheesiness, but I have to say that they seem pretty self-conscious of the cheese, tongue-in-cheek, you know. But it's not just me--it seems to have taken fandom by storm.

And for the record, I'm not convinced that the beginning of my post made much sense to anyone. And I've actually fretted a bit that my inanity would make people shy from the recs, since ALL of those fics that I recced are very good and smart and quite deep, you know? In the complete opposite vein of my cracktastic commentary on the depths of my scary fangirliness.

I've seen an episode; it was okay. You know, out of context, the show you're describing sounds like it could be BtVS--especially S1, was extremely cheesy. Possibly it will grow in future seasons. Anyway, I have gotten involved in fandoms before more out of an interest in the fandom than an intense obsessive interest in the source material. And SPN seems like it would be interesting if only from a fandom slant because dude, the one ep I saw was so twincesty it made my toes curl. (In the best of ways.)

And I've done the same thing--ramble on about something and then ask a question or make an observation under the cut that I realize appeals to a broader audience and should be in a separate post. I wouldn't worry about it ;o)

Yeah, it's a fucking joy to view. Though I'm pretty wary about the Wincest that I read. Because I can't handle the happy happy incest fic--it's OOC, and you know I don't like reading that. So yeah, it has to be angsty. But the thing is that I also really love the funny, playful parts of their relationship, so a lot of the time I prefer brotherly gen with a *hint* of something more. Because regardless, they loooooooove one another, and have plenty of other things to angst about. The Jensen/Jared fic OTOH, now that shit has sucked me far further into RPS than ever before.
