Off to the library

With all incidents out of the way, Del has finally found herself the time to talk her twin around into letting her off by herself for a bit. Her chosen destination? The Library. But she won't complain to being stopped along the way to talk with people ( Read more... )

Kresnik was taking a quiet stroll around the City when he noticed Del walking towards a set destination. Well, it was more like using her crutches to walk. He frowned slightly at that, shouldn't Del be resting? Letting out an annoyed sigh, he walked over to her.

"You and Emeraude don't seem to know the meaning of rest." He stated rather blandly.

She snorted her annoyance, but smiled at Kresnik anyways.

"I've been at rest for so long I've been bored silly," she retorted, balancing easily on the crutches. "Staring at the world from my window isn't exactly the most fascinating thing."

"Hm." He stuffed his hands in his pockets and looked at her. "...I suppose if Tesu let you out, then it is fine." At least she is slowly getting better and didn't injure herself more like a certain princess.

She rolled her eyes. Older siblings, even those not blood-related, could be such a pain to deal with. It wasn't that she minded over-much, but really...

"I promised to annoy her to death if she didn't," a smile took any sting out of her words. "I'm not helpless, just injured."

"...Right." He dropped the subject, it was no use in saying anything else about that matter. Kresnik looked away for a moment before returning his attention back to her. "...Where are you heading off to?"

"The library," and she couldn't quite keep from smiling. "Sho recommended it, and I have to admit, I have more than enough time to sit down with books."

And books inspired her. Then again, so did everything else.

"The library? It is a rather large place, but Milo gave me a map of it earlier." However, the map is back in his apartment right now. Kresnik seemed a bit surprised at her words. "Sho? I didn't know that you are friends with him." Actually, he can't really name any other person in general that are in good terms with him.

The Reaper using his motorcycle for his...artwork didn't earn any points from him either.

"If it's big enough to need a map, then it really should have something for everyone," and she chuckled a bit. "I'm probably the only person who is. He's... interesting."

And she owed him. But that had nothing to do with the reasons she liked him. Of course, admitting to it wouldn't ever get her anywhere, so there were only a couple of people who knew.

"...I suppose 'interesting' is one way to describe him." Kresnik didn't exactly hate Sho, especially since he rarely gets into contact with him. He briefly wonders what the Reaper did to have Del like him, but the soldier feels that it isn't any of his business.

"Is there anything particular that you are looking for in the library?" Might as well change the subject.

"Probably the most diplomatic," she grinned a little, knowing full well how few people actually got along with the mathematician. "And no, not really. Old music scores, new music scores, fantasy, Sci-fi... I just want something to read for a while. It'll help convince Twin that she doesn't need to worry about me, and provides me with missles if she annoys me."

She was kidding... mostly. She wouldn't damage a book like that, but she might threaten with one.

Kresnik nodded to her. "...Reading helps to pass the time away. I don't really read books that often though." It is just one of those things that don't interest him anymore. He tried getting some books from the library, but the soldier couldn't get past the first chapter of any of them.

"If there was a network connection, and not just a connection to the others here, I'd be looking online for other people's music to enjoy," she smiled. "But I guess I'll just have to get inspiration elsewhere."

Not that she minded. Taking inspiration from others was all well and good, but it got worrisome at times. Never quite knowing how close to the line was too close.

"Network connection?" Though his world may seemed advanced in terms of weaponry, the communication side has always lacked. Even transportation declined after the war, with airports and train stations closing up.

"Internet," Del tipped her head thoughtfully, trying to figure out how to explain it. "It's a little like the connection between everyone right now, only a much larger scale, and it's not limited to communications. You can shop, find music, read books, and all kinds of other things."

Kresnik blinked at the explanation that Del gave, a bit amazed that something like that can exist. "...That seems rather helpful and convenient." If the war never happened, something like this could have existed instead of the development of nanomachines and other weapons.

The soldier briefly wondered if he would truly like that though. The nanobots swarming through his blood has become a source of comfort in a strange way, which is why he greatly disliked the bodyswap event. He felt almost empty and abnormal without them.

"It can be," and she nodded, then tucked her bangs behind one ear. "It can also be trouble. There's a lot of distasteful stuff beside the useful. Not to mention computer viruses and the like. But more often than not it's wonderful."
