After her last walk, Del had decided it couldn't hurt t get out a little more. So she'd brought her notebook out once again, and headed to the park, hoping to use the surroundings for inspiration ( Read more... )

Kresnik was walking around the park when a paper flew to the ground in front of him. Wondering if it is something important, he bent down to pick it up. Reading the words on the paper, Kresnik couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at it.

"I wonder who wrote this..." He commented lightly to himself.

Del slid to a halt, panting slightly for breath. It had been quite a bit since she'd seen Kresnik, so it took her a moment to recall his name.

"Sorry," she said as she caught her breath, "the wind got it and decided today was 'keep away.'"

Not that she knew what exactly was on it.

Kresnik looked at Del, recalling that she was the younger sister of Tesu. He hasn't seen her since the "water cup concert."

The soldier handed her the paper, feeling like he already stepped over her personal boundaries. "Sorry, I read what was on this paper..." He trailed off.

She took the paper and studied it herself, then shrugged a little, smiling and blushing faintly as she tucked it away. She didn't recognize the handwriting... but it had been a while since she'd seen or heard anyone say words like that. It made her happy and sad at the same time.

"Kind of hard not to," she replied, "don't worry about it."

Had she been in that position, she probably would have read t too.

Kresnik nodded, glad that Del didn't seem to be offended by his reading of the paper.

"...How are you doing?" He asked awkwardly, not really knowing Del too well.

Del was used to not knowing people, and the slight awkward that came from being only an acquaintance never bothered her much.

"I've had better days and I've had worse days," she chuckled a bit. "Been thinking about my brother recently though, worrying about him."

Tesu had told her a bit of the conversation she'd had with Kresnik, and Delilah figured sibling-worry was something he would understand quite well.

Kresnik blinked at Del's words. "Is something the matter with him?" His thoughts trailed off to his sister for a while.

"He's alone with our older brothers," Del's arms folded across her chest, a frown crossing her face. "Taki's not the best older sibling, and Sam's a sweet kid..."

She knew she couldn't protect him forever, but being stuck with Taki and no backup--because Jordan never did anything without the proper incentive--wasn't a fate she would wish on anyone.

"I heard from Tesu that Taki is not a good older brother." Kresnik replied, not liking the guy already. Older brothers are supposed to take care of their younger siblings.

"He's the oldest," Del made a slight face, "and Dad's heir for the school. It went to his head long before Twin and I were born. We puncture his ego when we can, but he's not quite big-headed enough to act like an idiot in front of the parents."

They'd been trying to expose Taki's dark side for the better part of five years, but it was still a no-go.

"I see." Kresnik seemed a bit disappointed to hear that. He's not familiar with siblings who fight one another.

Yeah, she was used to that response. Their whole family was fairly dysfunctional, but the three of them looked out for each other as best they could.

"Someone needs to give his ego a body check," she sighed a little. "I wish I could go home though, just to check on Sam and make sure nothing's wrong."

He gave a slight nod to her statement. "Tesu is probably worried about Sam too. The City isn't letting anyone out though..." Kresnik sighed softly.

That was no joke, but Del smiled a little. It was nice to be able to talk with someone who understood what siblings were like, even if their situations weren't entirely identical.

"Tesu worries about him probably as much as she worries about me," she chuckled a bit. "Twin can be a bit overprotective, not that I blame her."

And she minded much less, thanks to that zombie thing the City had pulled.

Kresnik smiled a bit. "Yes, older siblings tend to be overprotective at times." He gave a slight chuckle. "My own sister, Yulie, complains about it sometimes."

"Sam's never complained, but he does tease us," she grinned a bit, "and Twin and I settle things with sparring."

Not that either of them had done a lot of that recently. There just wasn't any place they felt comfortable with doing it. The park was too open, the rooftop of their apartment was too small. They needed a dojo.
