Jodie Foster had dated Gillian Anderson for a few months before the two women had broken up.
When the two women met again a year later Jodie seemed less tense than she had been whereas Gillian seemed a little sad.

“Then why did you try to fall out of love with me then dump me?”
“Because I was scared.”
