Xena/Gabrielle/Aphrodite.

The first time Gabrielle submits to Aphrodite is the day she returns from the dead. All her feelings are in tact and she has tried so hard to tell Xena how she feels, but she doesn’t know how and she can’t understand why Xena shuts her out. Which is why she asks Aphrodite to show her how to make it clear, unaware that she’s opened herself to the woman who longs for her. The two move as one now, Gabrielle unable to understand why she didn’t try before to achieve this, this peace and completeness, but she knows why. She had to feel loss to feel Aphrodite’s caresses…
It’s as they lie catching their breath again that Aphrodite tells her what to do, giving her hope for a new future. This is what she does when she goes home to Xena, not saying a word about what she had with Aphrodite, she knows it’s obvious. What she does do is give herself up to Xena, baring her heart and soul to Xena, moving to kiss her roughly, taking rather than asking, pressing herself against Xena, feeling the woman stir beneath her and press into her, gasping for air. It’s the feelings she can get and give that push the two together again. They have always talked and thought and kept things away from the physical, which is why now the physical works for them and with them.
They wake tangled and watched, Aphrodite seemingly pleased with herself but still scared. It’s Xena this time who reaches for the woman, accepting that Aphrodite was the one who taught Gabrielle what to do and why and she knows if she doesn’t accept it then she will always be jealous. The three move on together, Aphrodite dropping in and out of their lives and loves. Time passes and eventually Xena is gone, leaving Aphrodite to care about Gabrielle, and for her. It’s this that leads to Gabrielle accepting her place in the world until she passes on, leaving Aphrodite behind but taking her lessons along with her.
