In Her Eyes.

By Elizabeth Fox.

The first time Gwen and “Johnson” met, Johnson had been trying to kill her. The second time Johnson had been left to die. Much as Gwen wanted to hate the woman and leave her behind she couldn’t. What she did instead was dangerous and likely to get her in trouble.

She had taken Johnson down into the newly built hub and set her on the medical area’s table, taking a moment to remember what Owen had taught her. Her fingers worked fast as she undid the woman’s shirt, not looking at the woman’s face as she found the bullet-hole, pulling the bullet free and using the laser-saw to fix the hole, the woman’s wail of pain surprising her.

“Hey… hey now.” Gwen spoke softly, stroking the woman’s hair from her eyes. “Relax.”

“I’ll kill you…”

“Nah, you won’t… you wouldn’t dare.” Gwen smirked, shrugging a little. “Stay still or you’ll break yourself in half again.”

“Cooper…”

“Johnson… shut up.” Gwen spoke sharply, startling the woman into silence.

Johnson’s eyes flashed as she sat back, looking shy and a little horrified at how quickly she’d become Gwen’s to control. “I plan to keep you busy.”

“Oh I hope so.”

Gwen’s reply was snarky and calm, her complete cool shaking Johnson’s self belief.

“What??”

“You owe me you’re life…”

“So?”

“So, you’re coming with me… girl.” Gwen spoke sharply, yanking the woman up. “I tried being nice… and you had my husband killed.”

“I…”

Gwen let the woman’s arm go and Johnson stumbled, nearly collapsing. Gwen caught her and propped her up. “Now… will you please behave?”

“Yes… boss.”

Johnson’s honesty showed in her eyes, even as she attempted to snark.
