I'm sitting here, on my private patio in the place I'm renting in Maui. It's pretty awesome. The sun is a lot brighter than when I first woke up, although I didn't see sunrise. I still woke up much earlier than I'd expected to. David's asleep but my body decided it was time to get up. A bit silly of it perhaps, but I'm glad. When I came out onto the patio, the roosters were doing some sort of call and response thing. I suppose there are roosters here after all, except unlike Kauai, they only crow in the morning. Once they were done, another sort of bird started in. It wasn't loud, just very different. Very likely, it has more to do with the hour I awoke than where I am. The birds are still going. I kinda like it.
So far, we've come across the usual "hawaiian spirit" I've come to expect based on my first two trips to Hawaii. Pretty much everyone out here is friendly and cheery out here. Granted, we're tourists and everyone we've met has been working, but it certainly feels very genuine. (Plus, I doubt the woman at the Burger King would put on an act for the tourists. I'm sure she and all the other airport workers get paid either way.)
I'm sure I'll have more to say later but for now, I'm tired of typing on this little keyboard.
