What do I do?
Sid the ferret has been an important part of my life, ever since I found him 9 months ago in the back of our yard.
Steve and I dilegently called animal control, all the vets in town, and I watched the papers/local websites for months to see if the owner would come forward.
When no one came we foolishly became attatched to him, and showered him with affection and toys.
Not to mention I did the responsible thing and had his shots up to date.
Just tonight this guy who lives in the apartment below is saying there is a guy in a near by apartment who lost his ferret a long time ago, and is looking for it. Supposedly he didn't try to find it because he thought it was stolen.
SUPPOSEDLY it is the ferret that was in Dr.Doolittle and is buzzer trained.
I don't know what to do. I am going to check tomorow how long an animal has to be abandoned before he can no longer be consider property of the owner.
I am hiding from the back door in case they come to talk to us. The neighbour says they may be willing to buy him back, but there is much more involved than just money ):
