Hang on, I'm confused.

These funds are being removed from the House stimulus bill. That doesn't mean it won't be introduced again as a stand-alone bill or as part of a different piece of legislation, and/or kept in the Senate stimulus bill, and/or reinstated in conference.

I get your point about this being the first to be cut, and I agree that it always seems like this sort of thing is the first to go. But, I don't think it being removed from this particular bill means it's doomed.

Thanks! (And, I take it you're referring to the OP in the rest of your post.)

And, thanks for the added details. I think a lot gets lost in hyperbole when it comes to politics and legislation.

I totally agree about the legislative process. And when organizations like Planned Parenthood send out e-blasts, it's not always helping the matter. (I got an e-mail about the Medicaid waiver from PP this morning, as a matter of fact.)

I understood fully that it was not something already offered and it was going to be similar to the waiver provided by HHS (whose budget and waiver system was dead in the water thanks to an appointment for a person who didn't believe in any reproductive rights ( ... )

I didn't mean to suggest it was doomed, I more wanted to explore why it was the first thing cut.

Was it first to be cut in this case? Couldn't tell from the article. Again, I agree with your larger point, but in this instance I don't think it belonged in this bill in the first place.

it was the first thing cut to get any press... I heard about this before PP jumped on it. The fact that the budget for it was a fraction compared to other 'incentives' not thought to create jobs to me ties in with why we should be exploring the intersection of isms here.
