Obama-Biden ticket and former Clinton supporters (US-centric)

A feminist appeal to former Clinton supporters:

Now that Senator Obama has chosen his running mate (Joe Biden), I'm hearing rumblings of anger from former Clinton supporters (or Republican trolls impersonating angry Clinton supporters). The idea that Clinton supporters would vote Republican or, just as bad, refuse to vote this November concerns me.

I'll give you four and a half reasons:

1.) John Paul Stevens - b. April 20, 1920
2.) Ruth Bader Ginsburg - b. March 15, 1933
3.) Stephen G. Breyer - b. August 15, 1938
4.) David Hackett Souter - b. September 17, 1939

4.5) Anthony M. Kennedy - b. July 23, 1936

The youngest of the liberal-leaning Supreme Court justices is 70 years old, and the oldest is 88. These folks aren't going to live forever. And compare the "conservative" justices' birth years: Scalia 1936, Thomas 1948, Alito 1950, Roberts 1955. Except for Scalia, these folks are 10-30 years younger than the "liberal" justices.

This does not bode well for reproductive rights and a host of other rights. We need a Democrat in the White House if for no other reason than to ensure that those judicial appointments are not made by an anti-choice president. So for the love of American women's uteri, let's band together as a party please.

supreme court of the united states, reproductive rights and health, abortion, politics north america, laws and legal system
