Harriet Miers Questionnaire

Oct 21, 2005 16:11

Don’t get me wrong . . . I do not believe that Harriet Miers is a good candidate for our highest court. Actually I do not believe she is a good candidate for any court. Yet, I have a question. The Harriet Miers questionnaire that everyone is talking about is not signed by her. It is unsigned. Thus, how do we know it was actually submitted by

supreme court of the united states

A word of warning - someone's probably going to attack you for this:

for our highest court - and for not explaing who Harriet Miers is every time you mention her (even though it's a simple google search away).

To see what I mean, see this post.

Not trying to be a jerk - just that with my experience reading in this community people often get attacked, rather than questioned (you sorta proved that point by calling me a jerk :-/). It saddens me. Fortunately, the replies so far have been cool and simply pointed out out that she could be more courteous. I can respect that.

My comment about the google thing - yeah, that was snarky. I'll admit it. Should've let that one go... sorry.

I thought by posting what I did, people would be less likely to attack/yell at her. If I take the heat for being a jerk, cool.

i think the annoying thing is that the mods/whomever jump on certain instances of it, and not on others. if i see a post with a little slip like that, and no one's gotten to it yet to comment, "Cease your US-centrism now, moron!" i feel like saying something just to warn the person before someone goes way overboard with a comment like that. i think your intentions were honorable.

I feel that *eyeroll* is a bit harsh. I am the first to admit that I am not perfect. Thus, I am open to criticism--well intentioned and mature criticism.

I rolled my eyes at Mr. White "Gangsta," not at you. My correction of you was intended to be polite. I'm sorry if I offended you in the process.

We'll see how you feel about it being a simple Google search away when you have to do it for every other post. I understand that Americans are, on the whole, very patriotic, but in a feminist community, you are expected to thing outside your national borders.
