As much as I hate the man, I don't think that this lack of sensibility is limited to his description of a woman (o.k., understatement of the decade, but I just woke up and that's as coherent as I get)...after all, this is the man who nicknamed Rove "Turdblossom"

Well, we all know what's REALLY important is that she has small feet. As long as she's cute and nonthreatening it doesn't matter if she's a "strong woman."

hmm.. that's not the message I derived from it.
To me it's stating that she may appear non-threatening, but don't underestimate her.

I think the idea is that the description also implies that she appears non-threatening because she is a woman. At least that's how I see it... I can't imagine Bush being that patronizing about a male nominee - "He may look real sweet, but I tell you he's quite feisty," just doesn't sound like something he would say.
