you know, i dressed up as rosie the riveter two years ago, and maybelline jenkins (essentially an alter-ego of mine that i dug up from the recesses of my soul in order to illuminate the "slutty" side of me...she cracked me up!) the next.
i think it's much more important to spend time with feminists on halloween then to worry about whether you'll wear a french maid or a pirate's wench costume. in the company of feminists, those costumes can take on a whole new meaning, i think. choose not to wear any of that crap and make your own.
i worked at trader joe's at the time...everyone was dressed up. people had to ask me what the hell i was (overalls, red bandana, denim shirt, etc.). fortunately, i had a rosie patch on my backpack, so i took it off and attached it to my overalls. suddenly the clouds parted and it actually made sense to folks.
