Well, wow! I never even imagined Cain and Ellen working together. That story moved so swiftly! I was sure Kelly had done it, but I'm bad at figuring out mysteries. :-)

"And you're an expert in lie detection?" Cain asked.

Ellen smirked. "No, just an expert in lying.
You really have to love Ellen. I didn't always, but I admire the chutzpah of the woman.

Fun story! You should write more mysteries! (Dee is here only because she too knew the secret to finding the last cosmetics in the universe. :-))

Thanks! The mystery aspect was fun. I wish I'd had the idea earlier so I could have really plotted it out more. (When I originally got my prompt, it was going to be angsty New Caprica/post-NC Seelix. Just a little different.)

But Ellen is definitely fun to write!

I cannot believe you pulled off Admiral Cain and Ellen Tigh working together to solve a mystery. HEEEEE! And it was both funny and appropriate for the setting. Cool!

Thanks so much! Yeah, the combo of them amused me to no end :)

BTW- thanks for the heads up about the spelling error. All fixed! :)

Helena Cain... and Ellen Tigh. Together as a detecting detective pair. Damn.

I liked this a lot. Especially the end! Oh, Admiral Cain, she would definitely decide a girl who killed her mother should be part of her crew, no doubt about it.

For some reason, I never thought about Admiral Cain wandering the fleet at all. I guess because her arc was so short... but I love this look at her, being mostly... regular.

Thanks so much! They seemed like a fun pair, and I needed someone who could keep Ellen out of official trouble.

I LOVE Cain-as-a-person fic. Which makes sense, given that I like writing Hoshi, and I still think she was very important in his life. I know we got to see more of her in Razor, but I still wish we'd gotten to see a little more of her than that.

Thanks so much!!! :)

I enjoyed this a lot! It's great seeing Cain being - not batshit insane. And I do love Ellen.

Thanks so much! :) Cain's fun when she's not batshit crazy. Her story is really pretty sad. And Ellen is a blast to write, I'm discovering.

ha ha, brilliant! This was a really fun romp -- I love the idea of Ellen and Cain together (scary!), and the cosmetics-mystery was a wonderful idea. I enjoyed this glimpse into life on Cloud 9, also. Great fic!

Thanks so much! I had fun with it :) (Although the idea for a cosmetics based mystery is entirely rebelliousrose's.)
