The world just ain't that way
This is just a little fic rec journal I created out of sheer boredom on a whim. I've spent a lot of time slugging through the net, searching for good femslash and this is some of what I've happened upon. I'll update whenever I find something new and exciting to share. For now though; some of what I've been (re)reading tonight.
3 Stargate fics
Priceless Things by sage_theory.
Summary- Janet takes Sam out...

There are a few grammatical errors and some sentence structures that gave me pause, but all in all this is a good story. It's bittersweet, full of sadness at the way life is, but also a love that's willing to work through it. I thinks it's a good look into what the S/J relationship could be like. Sage has also written some nice Daniel/Jack.
Quote "Of what? Of being hot lesbian lovers?" Janet uses the words like little knives, as though she could brazenly stab through a world of prejudice and a hundred broken rules.
Some Long-Lost Rockwell by Julian Lee.
Summary- The only thing certain in parenting is loss.
Pairing(s)- Sam/Janet.
Sam and Janet are stumbling through the aftermath of "Rite of Passage." The angst here is just right; Janet is scared, willing to do whatever it takes to hold on while Sam is strong yet broken. This is one of the few fics that've made me believe that Sam, Janet and Cassie could actually be a family.
Quote- "The three of you look like some long-lost Rockwell painting." Pause, hack chop hack. "If Rockwell had painted Air Force lesbians and their alien daughters."
Surface Tension by Salieri.
Summary- Forgetting is dangerous. Almost as dangerous as remembering. But between them is a thin scrim of thought...
Pairing(s)- Sam/male, Sam/female.
Rating- PG-13
This story is just... wow. It bends reality so well, and delivers both plot and character exploration in under 7,000 words. It had me jumping back and forth from WTF? to OMG the first time I read it.
Sam's confusion is so vivid and her self-destruction so painful. You must read this!
Quote Sam wants to pant, to scream. But the only ones who can hear her won't help.

The first two L&O:SVU recs contain spoilers for "Loss." If you're keeping yourself spoiler free just jump down to the third one.
You Get By by Julian Lee
Summary- Maybe it was easier before Olivia knew the truth.
Pairing(s)- Alex/Olivia, Munch/Finn.
This is one of the few post "Loss" fics that do the episode justice, IMHO of course. Alex is gone, Olivia is heart broken and lost, and Munch and Finn are concerned friends. Julian makes you feel Liv's desperation and the M/F interactions is cute
Quote- "I should have gone with her," she gasps, sitting up. "I should have gone."
Finn and Munch draw away in horror. It takes Olivia a minute to realize. They aren't thinking of U.S. Marshalls, or a black van, or the Witness Protection Program. They're thinking of the sidewalk outside the bar, blood rushing out of Alex's body. They're thinking of death.
Dark Grey by Cel
Summary- The aftermath of "Loss."
Pairing(s)- Alex/Olivia.
I really like this story. It's the consequences of "Loss" told from different veiw points- some you expect and others you don't. There are little things in this story that just make it so good. And the last line is so simple, it caps the story off perfectly.
Quote- Anyway, Elliot supposes that in a way she is. It's hard to think about mourning someone who's not dead, but then Alex Cabot might as well be. She'll likely never walk the streets of New York City again. Depending on where they send her, she'll never need her soft winter scarf or her long gray coat again. She'll never know that Olivia collapsed on him, screaming and shaking, as the long funereal procession of black cars took her away last night, to wherever she will be going and whoever she will become.

Summary- A 'what if' scenario for "Control."
Pairing(s)- None.
It's GEN!fic, but it's good. Clocking in at under 250 words, it's a short, but great look into Liv's thoughts after "Control." The ending is just... wow.
