Ahhh!!! The summer. The days get longer while your wardrobe gets shorter and shorter. And of course you want to look hot when it's hot out, but 90 degree weather can equate to frizzy hair, melted makeup, and oily skin.
Here's some tips on how to look cool in all this heat...

urban_glam_tips and
urbanglamourllc When it's scorching out, who wants to wipe sweat from their brow only to get a greasy handful of foundation & powder? Summer is all about the fresh face look so focus is on the skin. (note: French women tend to purchase more skin care products as opposed to makeup. We'll take a cue from them this season!)
Since your face produces more oil in the summer, you want to make sure you wash your face twice daily with a gentle oil-free cleanser. To keep skin looking radiant, try a twice-a-week microdermabrasion treatment like:
Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion in a Jar, $75 at Sephora
or
L'Oreal Microdermabrasion Kit, $22.99 at drugstore.com
Combat shine while protecting your face from the sun AND moisturize at the same time with Cosmedicine's Medi-Matte Oil Control Lotion SPF20 (shown below). I bought this on a whim after visiting sephora.com in search of a product that would leave my face matte without having to put on finishing powder. This stuff is certified platinum in my eyes!
Cosmedicine Medi-Matte Oil Control Lotion, $42 at Sephora
or for beauty on a budget, try
Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunblock, $10.73 at drugstore.com
And while we're on sun care, can I tell you how much I'm loving Neutrogena's Ultra Sheer Body Mist Sunblock? I'm forever hitting snooze in the morning and this spray gets me ahead of the game since I can quickly just spray on my sun protection.
Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Body Mist Sunblock, $9.99 at drugstore.com
A great day-time, no-fuss look that I absolutely love comprises of mascara (try Covergirl Volume Exact Mascara), a matte bright orange blush (like NARS Exhibit A blush), and a my-natural-lip-color-but-better lip gloss (like NARS Lipgloss in Stolen Kisses) and perfectly manicured eyebrows! The key ingredient to summer's bare face is the eyebrow. I get mine threaded at an Aveda Salon in my neighborhood. If you haven't tried it yet, you absolutely MUST try threading! It's a billion times more sanitary, more precise, and less messy than waxing. Seriously.
To tailor the look to you, give your eyelashes two quick coats of mascara. Dust your cheekbones with a matte (non-shimmery) blush (tip: The darker your skin, the brighter your blush. Fairer skins can try medium pinks and peaches or just a dash of bronzer. Medium skins can try bright peaches and golds. Dark skins should try bright oranges and reds.) Look for a gloss that closely mimics the natural color of your lips, but will still give you a bit of shine. Both L'Oreal and Maybelline have great new lines of natural looking lipsticks and glosses that are categorized by skin tones for a fool-proof pick.
And the most important summer beauty tip? FEEL beautiful, BE beautiful :)
