[The PCD turns on to show Asuna sitting on one of the lower limbs of a large tree near Whipstaff. It is early evening and a soft breeze is rustling the colorful leaves around Asuna. She is obviously lost in thought- not bothered by the chill in the night air. She has found some warmer clothing at last and is now sporting blue jeans, a t-shirt, and a coat. A yellow scarf hangs loosely around her neck.]
Life was something most people took for granted. When faced with the fact of their own mortality people would often run away if they had the choice or choose to be blind to it if running away was not an option. For most of her life Asuna had never given much thought to what would happen at the end of her life. That was something that was distant- of no concern to her until old age.
In the days leading up to her fourteenth birthday, though, Asuna realized that old age would not be a luxury afforded to her. The past that had only been offered to her through brief moments in her dreams returned to her with stunning clarity in those days. A promise that had been made in a previous lifetime re-emerged- a deal with the Devil himself to suppress her magical potential in return for her life at age fourteen.
Asuna had never been destined to grow old. She would never get married or have a family. She had nothing to hope for- no reason to dream.
And then she had died and had come here. The inevitable future had been changed- there was now uncertainty. The end was not a foregone conclusion any more. As long as Asuna stayed in Adstring she would have choices and a reason to hope and dream.
As best as Asuna could figure she had turned fourteen, died, and come here. She was fourteen now. On the 23rd of this month, though, she would turn fifteen. That was an age she should have never seen.
Asuna had not wanted to tell anyone about her secret. However, as her birthday approached, she wondered if she could hold in the truth much longer. Sooner or later she might have to go home and when that happened she would die unless a solution could be found while she was in Adstring. She had been given a second chance to do what she might have done in her previous life- cried out for help, for someone to save her.
Could someone here save her?
[The PCD times out and turns off.]
[[OOC: All of this takes place outside Whipstaff. The PCD has turned off for a reason- if someone wants to talk to her they need to come and find her in the offline setting. I’m sneaky like that.]]
