Clean ALL the things?

Like many people I know, I've recently found myself addicted to the blog "Hyperbole and a Half." I was up til 4 a.m reading through most of the archives, and I may have cracked a rib trying to keep from laughing loud enough to wake up the house.

Bills are actually easy if you can shift them all to the Internets. The Internets makes everything easier.

The trick is having a bank that lets you do online banking and online bill pay. I can't think of any off the top of my head that actually don't let you do that stuff, so maybe you will want to consider looking into that for when you do have bills to pay. My bank - Citizen's Bank - has a really nice system. Most things, like electric and gas and internets and cable and cell phone bills, their companies have all the coding in place to receive electronic payments through the Online Billpay. Citizen's also lets you pay bills to places that don't accept electronic payments - though not in the same way. Like, rent for example. They can't notify me when my rent is due because I don't get a bill from the landlord, and the landlord only takes checks. So I set the amount of rent for the month, and my bank will actually cut the landlord a check for me. Granted it takes like a week to process but it's still convenient.

But garden variety crap like paying my Comcast bill is super easy. Fill in the amount due, hit submit. It's like buying something on amazon. Only you're paying a bill.

The trick to dealing with all those responsibilities is to make technology do the hard shit for you. Like online billpay. And direct deposit. Yeah maybe that's being a computer-ish cave creature and not an adult but I can live with that.
