Amazing how one person could seemingly make or break a world. How long Clark Kent had been gone from this one, she didn't know. If she kept track, she would feel the hole that was there since he and Doomsday destroyed each other. Everyone felt the loss, not just in Smallville, but in Metropolis as well. Lana hadn't counted the number at his funeral, but there was a crowd. She'd been there in body, and arm wrapped around the shoulder of his mother. Her mind, however, was barely present. Everything seemed cold and distant and despite in deep ache in her chest, she hadn't cried. Even now, after what seemed like an eternity, she hadn't.
What she did do was work. ISIS moved and so did she, to a more reclusive part of Metropolis. She still provided the same support to the meteor infected that she had before, but now she was also recruiting them, training them to do the sort of things Clark had done before. No one could replace him, but someone had to try, especially at a time when things seemed to fall apart faster than anyone could put them back together.
After another long day at the office, Lana fell into her routine of organization, making sure everything was in it's proper place. Once she was done here, the real work would begin.
