parties and other fun stuff

the Halloween party went really well. it was not packed but it was busy and there was much fun had by all. we consumed an amazing quantity of alcohal, three gallons of mulled cider, and two entire sheet pizzas. even my little brother came in from as far away as Potsdam and joined in the festivities. there was everything a good party needs- music, silly campy movies, food, and drink, and great company. about 25 people all together. pretty cool!

the next night Jess and i drove up to Ithaca and went to the Haunt's Masquerade Ball. it was fabulous! i won a prize for my pirate costume, we danced a ton, and we talked to a few people, including one nice young gamer geek who was absolutely thrilled to bits that we recognized his costume as a D&D Rogue and he followed us around chatting and dancing for a while. Oh, the other thing about that sunday, on the way up to th haunt i got pulled over by a cop for speeding-- and was actually let go! first time ever! maybe cos it was two cute girls all decked out in pretty makeup and dresses-- but i can't say for sure, the cop was really nice, we told him we were going to a party and all. i was wearing a jacket that was zipped all the way up so i KNOW it wasn't the cleavage, you don't even have to say it. anyway, the costumes at the Haunt were really cool, there was a guy dressed as a classy white-rabbit from alice-in-wonderland, with a tophat and ears and a ruffled collar. there was a flash gordan and ming the merciless! there was a cute bondage-fairy that was from some anime thing jess told me about. there was another pirate there (actually a couple, but only one who did half as good as i did on his costume-the other few were straight outta hot topic costume packs) and i stopped and told him i liked his costume; he had the whole coat and a fancy tricorner hat and everything; but he was kind of a prick, i don't know if he thought i was making fun of him or if he was jealous that i was a sexier pirate, but he was kinda rude. whatever, we had a blast anyway.

the monday after that i called off of work, laurie came in from outta town and we hung out all day and played with the cats, watched Venture Brothers, and had a homemade dinner of beef stew and biscuts. yum!laurie headed out the following day and i worked for the next few days. then Friday i had off again, and i had Mom and Dad come by, dad and Dion hooked up the sink in the rear apartment, so it is finally completely done! 100% finished (for now). very cool. and Mom and I went out shopping and then worked on dinner and i made a new fancy floor pillow, then Gram, Gramp, and my Aunt and Uncle all came in and we had a huge sit-down family style dinner of roast beef, potatoes, carrots, corn, and red velvet cake for dessert. it was a huge success, my family is totally impressed with the house, they think we're amazing and they think i am a fabulous cook. hahah! it was really cool. after dinner dad went into the kitchen and poured himself a glass of "juice" from the Hi-C container in the fridge... when i saw him i said, "Oh, dad, that's actually leftover punch from the party! it has vodka in it!" and allova sudden grampa, gramma, and my uncle all wanted some too! it was surreal to sit there giving my relatives vodka punch-- which was also a hit, by the way! even gramma had a refill!

so that was my week, except for the boring bits where i worked. also i took the cat back to the vet, this time we made it out for about $60. whew! they did some rude things to her and she seems to feel better, the vet thinks he will take another look at her x-rays and talk to me again. she is doing pretty well (except for eating a bunch of tinsel stuff off the end of a cat-toy and barfing tinsel all over the kitchen floor) she's not limping as much as she was. she's now on a new and even more expensive catfood. sigh...
also, Dion and i got called out of the blue to participate in a survey for the newspaper, and we each got $50 for it-- go us!!! random $$ (it's already spent, but a windfall nonetheless!)

yep, that's this week in a nutshell!

parties, halloween
