Canada?
Mom and I just had an argument about Canada. She says that England owns Canada and that the reason people are always surprised that Canada has a military is that the Canadian military is really the British military.
I pointed out that Canada has its own Prime Minister, Olympic Team, and it's own red maple flag and a military that is indeed called the "Canadian Military" or some other business that comes complete with little patches that say "CANADA" and not "ENGLAND".
(And didn't Canada declare war on Germany all by itself right after Britian did in WWII?)
She says "well why else would the Queen visit Canada?"
I'm no history scholar, but I seriously believe that Canada really is a country.
