Thanks all for the input with regards to the camera. Ultimately, I went with combining some of the best features of each suggestions and ended up with a Cannon A570 which seemed to have the best value for the price. It ended up costing me about $150 for everything including an extra case and shipping. Not bad and will give me something to use for now.
