Express vs Slo-mo
Back at work. Unfortunately I had to work most of the weekend, so I missed fencing class. I actually ended up working from 9:00am Saturday to 2:00am Sunday. The problem was we were certifying for PC Express testing. Basically, I was given an array of computers and devices and had to test each against the others. It took a while, but I think it went well. Hopefully I will be able to take a day off this week.
Other than that, things are pretty normal. I got to see Rasputina last week. It was pretty good. I can't say they are my favorite, but they are worth the $10 for the show and it was a good time, so I am glad I went. I got to see the The Bowmans. Modern Folk type music.
Yesterday was the official laundry day for a friend and I, but I ended up getting so much more. My MST3K DVDs came in, so now I have a few more to watch. Also, we stopped by a garage sale and I picked up a record player. Nothing great, just one of those elementary school types that is just a big box with the turntable and speaker as one big unit. The nice thing about this was that it had the 16 speed, so I got to listen one of my favorite types of music. Specifically, records played really slowly. My favorite so far is La Bamba. Unfortunately, I think I burned out the motor already before I got to listen to Barry Manalou. I will see if I can't take it apart and fix it. Hopefully I just blew out a single component or fuse somewhere. exitof99, if you read this, I highly recommend you pick your self up a turntable that lets you do this. I think you would really enjoy it. Sure you can get the same effect digitally with CDs or whatever, but the combination of the analog sound, the scratches, the skipping, the looping, and the slo-motion action just gives it a great quality that I have yet to hear reproduced digitally.
