As for spaces after a period, I remember they used to teach us to use two spaces, but you're right in that they teach just one space nowadays. It could be it depends on what you're writing and for what purpose. When I was taking a journalism class, for magazines, you use one space after a period. For fiction writing, I think you could still use two spaces and be ok with it. Personal choice, I think. (I use one space, myself.)
Right? I can't really think of any other nickname. I mean Vally would sound like a boy. lol
Yeah, seems it has changed. Honestly I'm all for saving space so I think I'll go with one even if it means I have to go over everything. This thing is already 512 A4 pages using Times New Roman 12 and 1,5 line spacing. And I'm only just starting dividing it into chapters. *sighs*
I haven't always done so, but my last few fics I began dividing into chapters as I went so I didn't have to go back later and do so. It's easier doing it up front, in case you're going to be posting at fanfiction.net.
Oh, this is a novel meant (hopefully) for publishing so the chapter thing is pretty necessery. lol I divide every time the POV changes and sometimes within a POV if it's really long and works better divided than together.
