I've had an absolutely wonderful day.
Slept until noon. Then took it easy, answering some feedback while curled up on the couch. Then we dropped the kids off at the inlaws before going to a piano concert. Two pianos actually. It was absolutely amazing. They're both young guys, (born 1984 and 1982) who got to know each other when they were both attending Juilliard (squee!) and they're as different as day and night. One is a total geek (but oh so fun, he did all the introductions and was so relaxed and clearly enjoying himself) the other looked a bit like Dylan Moran in Black Books. lol And the music they played was so beautiful and fun and just wonderful. I thought it would only be for about an hour but they played for two hours with only a short interval.
Which meant we only had an hour to find something to eat before going to see Avatar in 3D. (We already had tickets.) Went to TGI Fridays and let me tell you I've never eaten so fast before. Devoured a whole plate of ribs in about 15 minutes. Huzzah! Had to leave half my Coke before we ran out. Only to stand in line to get in for probably 15 minutes. (Since when do Icelanders stand in line? We used to just push and shove and squeeze our way through. Not that I miss those days.)
Avatar was amazing. Yes, the plot was very cliché and has been done a million times before. It was kinda like they'd taken Pocahontas and Ferngully and glued them together. However it was so beautifully done you didn't really care. It is unbelievable how far we've come when it comes to movie technology. I remember when Stuart Little came out and you could see every little hair on that little mouse's face move and your jaw kinda dropped. And now we have this. I wonder how long it will take before they stop making 2D movies altogether. Probably not as long as we think.
Oh and I loved the whole Nature = Deus thing. I was just ranting about something similar in a feedback reply earlier. Nature as a living breathing force that takes matters into its own hands. Or its roots and branches, whatever. I just really like that. If I was looking for religion I think I'd go down that road. Back to the beginning.
[ETA: Aaargh! Sorry, I screwed up the cut. It was only up like that for a few seconds but if I spoiled you I'm so sorry.]
And now we're home and no kids around. It's nice and quiet and life is good.
