QaF fanfiction, or actually a RPG-community centered around the series. Lately I've felt like I'm cheating on my original fandom since I've concentrated so totally on QaF.
Also reading different magazines' reports about the school shooting. Makes me sad.
I felt the same way when I started reading and writing SPN. Still sometimes do. It's hard, especially when you feel like you might be letting people down who friended you for a reason and suddenly you've stopped living up to it.
I think I'll return to btvs/ats at some point but right now qaf inspires me a lot more. I still read a lot of btvs/ats fiction so I haven't abandoned it completely.
Couldn't believe my eyes when I received the first messages about the shooting. Can't believe it was already the second time inside a year. And the concept was almost identical with the Youtube videos and such. Feeling numb.
I just finished David Sedaris, Me Talk Pretty One Day, which is mostly hilarious, and I'm halfway thru The Story of Edgar Sawtelle, which is beautiful and heartbreaking, with an extra side of heartbreaking.
Both of these look very interesting. I remember reading about Naked but I never read the book itself but I gather David Sedaris is a very good writer.
Stories about deafness and sign language have a special appeal to me, having been privileged enough to get to know that world. I'll have to check that one out.
I'm currently reading The Secret Bride by Diane Haeger. It takes place just before Henry VIII took the throne in and around his court. I'm just starting, but it's good so far. I seem to be on an historial novel kick lately. Not sure why. ;)
Oh I've read my share of historical novels, many of them set in the royal courts of Europe.
Here's a weird thing. Reading about people that lived a long time ago always makes me a little sad for the simple fact that they're dead now. I know, I'm weird. It's just something, like reading novels that take place in the war and knowing those young people are now old or dead. Makes me grieve for them. *sighs* I guess that's where part of the appeal of vampires lie, the fact that they will have each other forever.
Bare Bones by Kathy Reichs. I actually have a whole stack of her novels from the library sitting on my bedside table. She's the author that writes the Temperance Brennan novels that the series "Bones" is based upon. But her book Tempe and the TV Tempe are two totally different people and it's okay.
Oh, I've read most of Kathy Reichs Tempe novels. They're pretty good. My mom has this fetish for forensics or something, buys pretty much all those kind of novels she can find and then loans them to me. lol
I actually thought the Tempe's were a bit alike since she's also socially awkward in the books (apparently based on Kathy herself) but it's been a couple of years since I read one so maybe I remember that wrong. I'm pretty happy they changed that boyfriend guy to Booth though. Makes it more interesting.
