Some of you may be aware that I have a... I wouldn't say kink but rather fascination with, incestuous pairings in fandoms.

Cut to spare those that have no interest whatsoever. Consider yourself warned. )

This is really interesting - thanks for posting it!

I'm just think-typing here, but...looking at the prevalence of slash in fandom, I wonder if it reflects some sort of societal failure to recognize/accept really DEEP platonic love. I don't mean this to sound critical, (really, I love the Wincest), but I do think it's a somewhat wacky path that we take to get to some slash pairings. It seems like, for SPN:

a - these two characters are brothers (canon)
b - these two characters clearly love each other (canon)
c - love that deep can't possibly be just platonic (my little theory)
d - therefore, there is a sexual relationship here, even though they're brothers (only logical conclusion)

Am I rambling incoherently? I'm just wondering WHY the Wincest appeals. Would it be as hot if they were raised together, had the same level of love, but were not biologically related? For me, I don't think it would. It's the thrill of the forbidden, but also sort of a Romeo&Juliet, love conquers all, nothing can stand in our way celebration of their love.

I think this might be at least two separate ideas, possibly more. Do any of them make sense?
