So I know it's Fangoria and a Saturday so there's hardly anyone around but... Well, I can't wait any longer. Although I'll probably post-pone posting to comms until Monday.

Anyway... This is the biggest thing I've ever written in one go and although I'm quite nervous I'm also very proud of it. So... Yes. I hope you like.

Hey there, it may be Saturday night, but since I've been working Friday, Saturday and Sunday night for three weeks, what else am I gonna do but stay up ridiculously late (early) reading freakin awesome fic?
I've only read the prologue so far but wanted to give a shout out anyways. This is the hugely angsty!Jensen fic that wouldn't end you've been talking about, right?

Out of curiosity, have you researched the subject of self harm among males? I've read quite a few stories where it happens, but in RL it seems that it's mostly girls who do it. Being that boys tend to act out their frustrations while girls internalize. I guess these lines are blurring more everyday, with women and men borrowing each other's troubles so to say... But it's hard to know how much is just media attention etc. Do you know how common it is, statistically speaking, for boys to be cutting themselves? Are eating disorders more frequent? I should probably just Google it but if you've already looked it up...? *is lazy*

As with eating disorders self-harm is more common with girls than guys but the difference isn't that great that it's a "girl thing". And with cutting, hardly any, or so recent studies seem to show. Not everyone agrees with that but either way, it does happen with guys as well as girls. But, like with eating disorders, guuys are less likely to seek help because of the girl stamp.

I didn't research cutting that much though, only a little, since the main focus of the fic is on bulimia and the cutting is just something he tries but doesn't find that it really works for him and he only does it occasionally as a teenager.

I didn't really bookmark what I read but there's an article on it on Wikipedia here. Of course you can only trust Wikipedia so far.

And Fangoria is a convention being held this weekend.

Mm. Equality progresses: girls can form gangs and beat people up and be labelled "agressive", and boys can have anorexia etc and be labelled "girls".
I think the media coverage here has been tilted towards girls on the issue, plus I know girls who have cut themselves but not boys ('course, I know more girls all in all) - to my knowledge, since you're right and it's more "accepted" for girls to that particular thing. How screwed up is that.

Anyway, I'm expecting Jared to make Jensen happy in the end! Will be reading up on them soon.

In-butt appreciated!
Guess it's just been given more media attention about the girls here then, it was almost like a trend for a while - more kids started doing it because they'd heard about it. My best friend cut herself years ago before I knew her, and for a long time she didn't wear short sleeves even though her scars weren't that visible. But recently I've seen a couple of teenagers with lots of severe and fresh scars who seem to be almost showing them off. It kind of made me want to bring out band aids and patch them up.
