I really like Spike. It's nice seeing a young, well adjusted Spike and a messed up Liam, it's usually the other way around.

I'm in love with Will! He really has terrible experiences behind his back but he's right when he says I didn’t make her a drunk, I didn’t turn myself gay. That’s just what happened. It’s how you deal with it that matters.
He's so cool! *is in love* *suddenly remembers he's gay and she's not a guy*
*pouts* *then think about Liam....bright smile*

Oh and I also loved the end, when Liam put Will's number on the fridge next to Billy's picture...first step in the right drection?

Hey, no shame in being in love with a gay guy. Even if they don't wanna play, you can always watch them play with each other. lol

Will is quite the character. I rather like him myself. He's kind but he won't be pushed around, as we will see later. If being tough is what it takes to get Liam on his feet than he'll be the toughest ever.

Liam hates himself enough to deliberately sink himself into dark depression. Then Will comes into his life like a little ball of sunshine and he might not like it but suddenly being alone and brooding isn't s appealing anymore. Which kinda makes him resent Will. But who could resist the power of Spike? lol

OK, I absolutely *adore* Spike!! I love the way he was able to get Liam to open up, even if it was only a little bit. I can already tell that Liam's stubbornness will be no match for Spike's. Loved getting a bit of Spike's backstory too, sad as it was. His outlook on life in light of his past is inspiring. Thanks so much for the update!

Liam is a stubborn SOB but Spike won't back down so easily. He's used to obstacles and overcoming them. As long as Liam gives him a tiny reason to believe he might be getting somewhere that's all the encouragement he needs.

YAY!!! I've been looking forward to this story for a while. I thought that you had forgot about my boys for a while. I hope to see more of this and Protect Your Soul soon. I love what you've written so far. I'm curious about the resemblence between Billy and Will. Is it just a coincidence?

The resemblance is actually just a coincidence but it does both put a crack in Liam's defenaes as well as build some new ones up. Is it the resemblance that draws him to Spike? Will Bill always be a third person in the room? Things like that.

I hope I can do more with Protect Your Soul too. That one is lying heavy on my conscience.

Exellent, Loved Spike, or William, taking care of Liam, so refreshing, and in character. Spike always was a carer.

Spikes backstory is inspired, how he coped in contrast with Liam, then being honest has probably helped, which is maybe what is holding Liam back, and driving him to drink.

I am concerned about how much Liam is drinking, such a dangerous job, needs to have his wits about him.

Loving it! The characters are so well defined I really care about them.

I actually think that based on the characters we get in canon that Spike would be the one to say "To hell with what you think, if I wanna shag a bloke, I'll shag a bloke. So call me queer if you want to, what the fuck do I care" while Angel (not Angelus because that's a whole different matter) would hide it and become withdrawn, thinking that being revealed as gay would undermine his authority, make people look at him like less of a man. But maybe that's just me. lol

I think Liam has been able to keep his drinking more or less under control, reserving it for days off and such because he has his job and he knows he has to be in top shape. However once that crutch is taken from him, being put on sick leave, he falls, not seeing any reason to stay sober. I'm not sure I would call him an alcoholic, not yet, but he's going to become one if he doesn't watch out.
