Huh, it never occurred to me to think about Bones being raped. To me the rape kit seemed more like a formality so that they could get on with the gore and flayed corpses and Booth handling evidence in a way that would have gotten him booted out of the Bureau.
I'd actually be disappointed in a rape plot line, because that would feel like an attempt to "humanize" Brennan by giving her some easily classifiable vulnerabilities. It's much the same way I get antsy when I think House is going to get sappy.
Well, yes I don't think it was ever considered likely that had happened but being assaulted to the point that you break your hand and have a severe cut on your head is still serious enough that the police acting like it's all a joke made absolutely no sense to me.
For what it's worth I like characters being shown as vulnerable. My favourite episode on Bones is the X-mas one and on House the story about his leg. I want to get behind the facade, find out what they're hiding and why they're acting the way they are. Otherwise it's just like another cop/doctor/whatever show where it's all about the case of the week, again and again and again.
I thought the Christmas episode had some good points but was a bit heavy-handed. Maybe if it hadn't been a Christmas episode, with all the usual "oh, 'tis the season, let's make it heartwarming, folks" stuff. Though I liked seeing Angela's dad.
I don't like Generic Gruff Cop 1 or Standard Caring Surgeon either, but too many times the stories feel like someone in the writers' room said, "Throw a dart at the Character Vulnerability chart, we need to make Sergent Whozit more human." I like the way House's leg and his pill addiction permeates everything, with the occassional focus episode on his ex-girlfriend or when they were trying to get him to ease off the dosage.

Oh he so loves her. Angela loves her too. They should just get it over with and have a big threesome. *g*
