We're thinking of buying some gay films for the library. Brokeback Mountain of course when it comes out and then some more. Any recommendations? I didn't bother to point out to her that almost all our Spanish films have some gay/bi/transsexual characters (gotta love the Spanish) so she wouldn't change her mind because more is always better *g*, but we're not quite sure what to buy.
It came up while looking at World Cinema special offers at Amazon.co.uk where they have a special gay/lesbian section. The top seller is a movie called
Edge Of Seventeen. Anyone heard of it? Is it good?
I'm not sure it matters but our students are 16-20 y.o. Not that I'm worried about sex scenes (like I said, we have Spanish films by Almodovar) as long as we're not talking Ages of Lulu, but more wondering if any specific films would be good for kids who are either curious or struggling to come out of the closet. I feel we lack resources for them.
And while we're on the subject, recommendations for books would be great to. Both fiction and non-fiction. Especially non-fiction. Anyone?
Ps. I have
wesleysgirl's
Big Gay Film List and
Big Gay Lit List but personal opinions would be greatly appreciated.
