Happy 2017!

I'm having a very lazy New Year's Day, drinking latte, eating chocolates and hanging on the internet.

We had a pretty nice New Year's Eve at my sister's place with her family and mum. Were late though because we managed to lock ourselves out of our house. On New Year's Eve! Remember the Thanksgiving Friends episode with "Got the keys!/?" It was pretty much like that except mr Felis asked me just as he closed the door. Making me realise I'd forgotten my purse with the keys and my phone inside, and everyone else realise they didn't have any keys either. So we had to wait 45 minutes for a locksmith to show up and let us in, but rather right away than after midnight on New Year's Eve!

Oh, and the dessert, which I was in charge of, kinda failed. Lemon meringue pie. Don't know how, I've made it a million times, but somehow the pie crust got completely stuck to the bottom and was so hard we couldn't cut through it but had to just spoon the lemon cream (which also was really runny for some reason) and meringue out of the pan. Oh well, it still tasted okay but it's disappointing because it takes hours to make and is my favourite dessert ever. *pouts*

We went to the bonfire after dinner and then, after desserts and watching the annual New Year's Comedy Show (a satiric look at the events of the year), we went up on the Catholic church hill to watch the fireworks, which were spectacular as always. In fact, they were so spectacular this year that when we drove home around 1:30 am the whole city was engulfed in a smoky fog due to the uncharacteristically calm weather. (Pollution measured 2500 micrograms/m2, compared to last year's 400.)

Anyway...

Decided to import my LJ entries to Dreamwidth since it's been over 3 years since I did it last time and who knows what will happen with this place now they've moved the servers to Russia. Don't see myself moving over to DW though but I absolutely don't want to lose my LJ entries so copying them to another place, just in case, feels like a good move.

Haha, as I was typing this up our cat, Tása, came running up the stairs with the girl's Totoro plush toy in her (the cat's, not the girl's) mouth. Carrying it around like a kitten, occasionally attacking it like the ferocious animal she is. I tried to catch a pic but she carried it downstairs again before I could, tumbling the last few steps since the stairs are steep and the toy is almost as big as she is. lol
