1.What did you do in 2015 that you'd never done before?
Published a book! With six other women but still. Also, bought a house!
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't make resolutions.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes, mr Felis's sister
4. Did anyone close to you die?
My father died in December 2014 but his funeral was in January 2015, and again in April, after we brought his ashes home to Iceland, so it sort of felt like he died this year. And, although I didn't know them personally, the deaths of Terry Pratchett and Leonard Nimoy made me very sad.
5. What countries did you visit?
Sweden, for dad's funeral. London, with mr Felis.
6. What would you like to have in 2016 that you lacked in 2015?
Concentration and inspiration so I could finally write something.
7. What dates from 2015 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
December 5th, because that day our book was published.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
that book of poetry. And well, another thing which I'm not ready to talk about yet.
9. What was your biggest failure?
My total lack of writing. I have a perfect place to write in now but my head is just empty. *sighs*
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Well, I had an hysterectomy, although that was by choice.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
The house! I love our house. So happy we bought it.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
This was the year of women in so many ways. Saying fuck to the patriarchy. You go, girls!
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Too many to count. The world is in many ways a horrible, horrible place, so horrible that it's hard to remember that it is actually, over all, better than it's ever been, historically speaking. Thing is, things being good for more doesn't make it better for the people it's shitty for. So, yeah, have gotten quite depressed about that a lot of times this year. Seriously, why are so many people such fucking assholes?
14. Where did most of your money go?
The house, obviously.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
The house, the book, the thing I'm not gonna talk about and last but not least, Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
16. What song will always remind you of 2015?
Probably Shake it off with Taylor Swift.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? happier, since this time last year my dad had just recently died.
b) thinner or fatter? Same.
c) richer or poorer? About the same, I think. Although we have more debts now because of the house and still not having sold the apartment so... On the other hand that means we own two properties. Unwillingly, but still.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Write, write, write.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Letting things get me so down.
20. How did you spend Christmas?
Christmas Eve at home, it was lovely. Christmas Day at my mom's and the 2nd day of Christmas at the inlaws. At which time I'd had enough of having to dress up and be sociable and was very happy to spend the next day in pj's doing nothing.
21. What was your favorite month of 2015?
Probably the summer months, although it was frustrating waiting for the house to finally be ours. So probably when we got the key to it in the last week of August.
22. Did you fall in love in 2015?
Stayed in love. :)
23. How many one-night stands?
Zero.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
Supernatural keeps being my favourite but there were some really nice new ones. Agent Carter, Sense8, the 100 (yes, I know it's older but I only started watching it this year), Daredevil, Jessica Jones... basically Netflix rocked.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Trump. Not that I liked him before, I just didn't care about him. Now though...
26. What was the best book you read?
Not any specific book but I was reading Ray Bradbury this summer and at times I had to stop and just breathe because of a magnificent sentence or paragraph or choice of words.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Don't think I made any new musical discoveries. None that I can think of anyway.
28. What did you want and get?
A house! :)
29. What did you want and not get?
More work.
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Star Wars was by far the best surprise. I believed it would be good but I never dreamt it would be so damn fantastic.
Mad Max: Fury Road was also absolutely amazing. Felt like I could conquer the world when I walked out of that one.
Loved Kingsman but the ridiculous anal sex ending kinda ruined the good feeling it gave me.
Magic Mike XXL was such a blast.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 43. Mr Felis went to work without waking me and my kids forgot about it completely so I sat at home feeling very sorry for myself the whole day and burst into tears when mr Felis finally got home. I did get the chair I wanted for my room though and then I got cake and later steak for dinner so it turned out alright.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Getting more writing done. Or just any writing really.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2015?
Comfy.
34. What kept you sane?
My family and friends. And the cat. Even if sometimes it was the cat driving me crazy. Please stop yowling when we're trying to sleep!
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Jensen Ackles. Still. Always.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Everything involving the Syrian crisis.
37. Who did you miss?
My dad. Even if we never talked much, now I can't anymore, I keep finding things I want to show him or talk to him about.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
Don't know about best but I've been so impressed with our new neighbour. He bought the old house across the street. It was a total wreck and he's been working on it every day, fixing it up. Don't know how often I've stood in the window, watching him work. Very entertaining, even if it makes me feel like a lazy sloth. He probably thinks I'm a total peeping Tom, lol
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2015.
You know how people say you should forgive and forget and make amends with people because once they're gone it's too late and you say yeah, yeah, whatever, and then it happens and you realise they were right? That one. Sorry, dad.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
I feel like the wish in this one kinda came true this year. :)
Helping the kids out of their coats
But wait the babies haven't been born
Unpacking the bags and setting up
And planting lilacs and buttercups
But in the meantime I've got it hard
Second floor living without a yard
It may be years until the day
My dreams will match up with my pay
Old dirt road
Knee deep snow
Watching the fire as we grow old
I got a man to stick it out
And make a home from a rented house
And we'll collect the moments one by one
I guess that's how the future's done
How many acres how much light
Tucked in the woods and out of sight
Talk to the neighbours and tip my cap
On a little road barely on the map
Old dirt road
Knee deep snow
Watching the fire as we grow old
Old dirt road
Rambling rose
Watching the fire as we grow well I'm sold
